Karaoke

29/01/2010 I love music, I love playing  the piano and I love singing. I am no singer, I lose my  pitch, tone and tempo when I sing, but I still keep on singing. I don`t have voice training lessons and I always am poor singer, but still, I repeat, I love singing. I had always heard about karaoke back in my country but never had the chance to enjoy one, in my first 20 years of life. For a person who loves to sing but can`t  sing in public, karaoke is the best answer. I was first introduced to this method, of introducing the poor singer inside me to the others, in 2008. What my friends and I wanted was a little get together of the four foreign girls and do something. Finally ,it was decided on a karaoke night out.  図1 Karaoke Stand The karaoke bar , where I go to sing, is just 15 minutes away from my place. It has packages for free time, one in the noon -from 11.00a.m. to 8.00p.m. for 550yen (+400 if you order the drink bar)- and the other at ni...

My Poor Singing Performance - But I Still LOVE Singing

I always wanted to sing. I don`t know why but i always wanted to sing. I sing at home, when I study, in the bathroom. But I am no singer. I have so many flaws in my singing, dead tone, bad breathing, untrained voice and everything and all of them. but this never stopped from me singing. I loved choirs, I took part of them but still I admit that I am no singer. I recorded some songs while I was singing and I know I should not be publishing them here, because after all i`m ruining them all. Don`t bother to listen. This is published because I love my poor singing. I tried singing <"I believe" of Ayaka> <"僕は君に恋をする" of Hirai Ken> This was at home. <"Only Hope" of Mandy Moore>

Home-made KOTTU...

30/10/2009 The five young Sri Lankans at the Shokugyou Nouryoku Kaihatsu Sougou Daigakkuo planned to throw a Sri Lankan food stall for the University Festival 2009. What they were going to sell was the next problem and the final answer ended up with Kottu and Cutlets. Kottu of  all?? Nobody had any idea to make Kottu except for this one brilliant guy, who is called "The Chef".We went shopping a week early and started making the Kottu from 8 o`clock in the early morning after a long night of the earlier day spent on preparing the cutlets.  First we started with making the flour rotti. First put some flour in to salty water and make a batter. then make little flour balls and later flatten them very thin on a oily heated pan. This will result in a rotti. Make rotti using 1.5 kilo of flour to make kottu for 70 people or more. That`s what we just did. Then cut them in to small pieces with the maximum length of one inch. This is the hardest part of the whole Kottu business. ...

Japanese dolls

18/08/2009 I had the chance to make Japanese dolls using traditional Japanese paper, for the second time in this summer of 2009. It was fun and of course a little bit of hard work. I managed to take photos step by step in the process. All the steps  are not included, so that I hope to explain the procedure each step. The worst part is, all the stuff  and shapes needed are already stuffed in to a little bag so that we never learn to cut out the papers by ourselves. Here we begin. The head is made of cotton and an oil paper wrapped around to get a smooth surface. The head is then glued to the end of a  steel wire which is at least 15cm long. Then another steel wire is attached horizontally and tied up with a thread to make up the arms. Next, paper serviettes are used to build and fatten up the body of the doll. Tape is used to tighten the tissue papers around the body of the doll so that the body becomes slim. Additionally, the tissue is also wounded up around the hor...
