I Stopped At...

Matsumoto Castle is situated in the middles of a very busy city , Matsumoto, Nagano. It is very famous as one of the beautiful castles in Japan. It stands majestically in the middle of a moat, a common safety measure in old Japan. Actually, the Japanese alps can be seen in the background. We wanted to go inside but the waiting time was more than one and half hour so we decided to give up seeing the interior. This is the view from the outside of the castle premises. A swan, the safety waters, bushy wall and the main tower of Matsumoto Castle far behind. all in one picture. The trip to this castle was unexpected. We dropped in , on our way back from Kamikochi unplanned with little time left . So I apologize for little information I provide. 2016/5/5 Kamikochi is one of the most scenic places in Japan. The best season to visit Kamikochi is the lte spring  or early summer. We went  during the mid spring in the Golden Week in Japan so it was still the winter for the highlands. We can reach midway by our own car and then we have to use the shuttle buses. Refer to the [Access] tab for more information.  We got out of the bus at the Taisho pond and started to walk. Taisho Pond It was cloudy that day but the water still had a beautiful emerald color.  Tashiro Pond  There was not much water in the pond but Mount Yadake towers over this pond too. I could capture a beautiful texture photograph of the clear water flowing over the  stones. Hotaka Bridge We pass over several bridges on the trail and this is one of them. The water is flowing beneath with snowy mountains at the background. Weston Memorial Palque We rarely see foreigners getting...

2011/02/05 Nakasendo is the inland road connecting Edo and Kyoto empires in early ages. Naraijuku is the second station of Nakasendo. This was a market city in the early days and still intact up to this very moment. This old city is situated in Nagano.
