Nishizawa Gorge - Yamanashi

2016/11/03

"The dullness around fails to hide its Full Glory ."

Nishizawa Gorge is located in the very west of Yamanashi, close to the boundaries of Saitama and Nagano. Arakawa River flows through Chichibu mountains creating the Nishizawa Gorge.

It is a hiking course of 4 hour walking along the river through muddy trails in the woods watching the river falling , flowing and gushing towards the city.

Along the way we come across bridges and waterfalls. Too bad I could not capture any of the bridges but managed to capture the waterfalls which will be posted under a different post.
.

It was November and the mid Autumn.  The water level was low and bearably cold.
Here is Arakawa river flowing down the rocky steps through the stones.

We walk up the river trail while the river flows in the opposite direction. The trails are narrow, and muddy at some parts. Some parts are safe guarded by metal chains and some parts are not. A little missed step may take you down to several feet down towards the river banks. Always Watch your step!

River is flowing serenely down towards the City. The leaves have turned yellow and red. The autumn is here.

Waterfalls  with Autumn colors again. It was a beautiful sight up there with red, yellow and green colored roof while the waterfall below creating a pure blue water basin.

There is more water around this point here as the river is narrower. Yellow autumn colors add life instead of dullness to the scenery. I loved it.

After reaching the very top of the mountain we can see the Arakawa river flowing down through autumn towards Yamanashi city, but not knowing anything about the several huge dams waiting to block their way.

This is one of the main spots along the hiking course. it is called the nanatsugamagodannotaki meaning Seven-Basing-Five-Step Waterfall. This waterfall has 5 steps and the waterfalls in to seven basins along the way. Autumn  colors had added the perfect shade and it was just perfect timing to be at Nishizawa Gorge at this time of the year.

Special thanks to Danuka, Amilendra, Mahesh, Mayuri and Patali for sharing the fun.

Story1 Orihime is a princess who wove beautiful clothes by the bank of the Amanogawa which is  Milky Way in English . She worked very hard every day to weave clothes. However, Orihime was sad that because of her hard work she could never meet or fall in love with anyone. Concerned about his daughter,  the  father arranged for her to meet Hikoboshi who lived and worked on the other side of the Amanogawa. When the two met, they fell instantly in love with each other and married shortly thereafter. However, once married, Orihime no longer would weave cloth and Hikoboshi allowed his cows to stray all over Heaven. In anger,  the  father separated the two lovers across the Amanogawa and forbade them to meet. Orihime became despondent at the loss of her husband and asked her father to let them meet again. The father was moved by his daughter’s tears and allowed the two to meet on the 7th day of the 7th month if she worked hard and finished her weaving. The first time they tried to meet,

Tateyama Alpine Route - Murado Station

19/07/2010 Another dream coming true. I always wanted to go there.I was collecting leaflets, pamphlets about this but never thought of   going due to the high costs. Well, luck was upon me this one time. It was early morning of 5.45 and I was waiting for my sensei s vehicle in front of  Toyama Station. I did know the plans for the day but that we were going to Tateyama. Were we going to Kurobe Dam too, or going to Kurobe Dam?Were we going to take the Alpen Route or go straight to Kurobe? Surprises were waiting. We reached Tateyama Station and I knew it is my dream coming true. Weather and information of the day  It was around 14degrees at the top of the mountain while it was nearly 36degrees at the foot. We were simply above the clouds and the temperature difference was too much to bear. It was cold in the summer. Early in the morning when we passed the Murodo staion on our way to Kurobe dam it was clear all around. in the afternoon, sudden fogs, drizzles and strong winds
