Sunset at Aqua Line - Tokyo

2019/05/26 Umihotaru is the service area in the Aqua Line expressway. It is located in the middle of the Tokyo bay, along the expressway connecting Chiba and Kanagawa prefectures. It is a famous spot to watch the sunrise and sunset. Below are some captures of the sunset I witnessed at Umihotaru. Special thanks to Buddhika Samarakoon for being a part of the journey. Sakura 2017 - Meguro River

2017/04/07 It is the Sakura season again.  After a not-so-cold-winter, finally the Sakura had decided to bloom with the best timing. As the weather suddenly became cold, the peak was little delayed to the mid week. The peak was actually predicted to be  over the weekend of 1st and 2nd April. The path to walk was marked this year, so there was no traffic. It was less crowded compared to the previous years.  It is my favorite spot around Tokyo, the Meguro river.  The captions may be similar to the ones of the previous years. As usual, Sakura was in full bloom. Pink everywhere! Japan like, this is..! The Meguro river was flowing serenely under the Sakura tunnel. Loved it!! More like, I was never tired of it!So far this is my favorite photo this year. Sakura is blocking the view of the Sakura tunnel. You can keep gazing at the water below for such a long time following the Sakura petals fallen to the water. It is very beautiful and calm. Th...

Fall at Mount Takao - Tokyo

2011/11/19 So I along with my Thai friend and a professor at the university made it to Takao for the 6th time .7th time, I don`t remember well.  It was the autumn, and the peak of it.  Tokyo was turning in to red and yellow just weeks before going in to a dull brown. So the following were captured along the unofficial way to the Mt.Takao. Simple Maple trees marking the change of season.  All Rights Reserved.

Yasukuni Shrine - Chiyoda

Yasukuni Shrine is a famous Shinto shrine. I visited the place in the peak of the spring. It is celebrating 150th Anniversary this year. This shrine has become controversial over the years as it has become a symbol of war criminals.  Whenever a political leader visits the shrine, an uproar goes across Korea and China, over the grudges about World WarII. There are famous Sakura spots around Yasukuni Shrine such as Kitano Maru Park, Budokan(Sumo Arena) and Chidorigaoka just across the street. It makes this place a very famous Sakura spot in the heart of Tokyo. Yasukuni shrine is located around 3-5 minutes walk from Kudanshita station. Entrance is free. Main Entrance The Shrine with Sakura in full bloom. Sakura trees in the shrine premises. It is a pink ceiling everywhere. This Sakura tree is the symbolic tree which symbolizes the wake of Sakura blossoms in Tokyo. The meteorological department of Tokyo monitors this very ...

Sakura 2016 - Meguro River

2016/04/01 Well, I went back to Meguro river to enjoy the night Sakura this year too. It was crowded as always, still felt good as always. Not much pictures this year. Phone battery could not hold for long. Here is Meguro river flowing towards the Tokyo bay under a tunnel of Sakura at Nakameguro. There was this famous cat perched on a Sakura tree sleeping tight, dead to the world, while thousands of people walked by.  I guess the cat spoke a lot in his own way about the serenity under the Sakura tunnel at Meguro River. Special Thanks to Miyazaki san, Eddie(Singapore), Weerapon(Thailand) and Sommei (Thailand) for joining in at short notice.  All Rights Reserved.
