We visited Shousen Gorge in the fall of 2014, to watch Autumn leaves in the fall. we came across this little 30m waterfall on the way. It is called Senga Falls, Senga standing for moon as in an old Chinese fable.

This wood carving is a very detailed art piece of the Chinese fable it seems. It is found on the way towards the fall before descending a steep set of steps towards the Senga waterfall.
Senga falls is selected as one of the best 100 waterfalls in Japan.
We were a little too early, so there were not much autumn colors but I guess the white water falling behind the red and yellow leaves would definitely make this fall one of the best 100 falls in Japan.
The path could be very cold even on a sunny day as the huge rock mountains cover the sunlight from falling. As you may notice, the path is very well built and maintained. It is spacey enough too.
Women believe that leaving 1yen coins in and around the waterfall results in fertility. Lots of 1 yen coins are stuck in the cracks of the rock though out the trail to Senga falls and beyond.
Special thanks to Mahesh, Mayuri and Amilendra for the beautiful time spent together.
