The ancient kokiri dancing village
The beautiful village of Ainokura
The entrance to the village
The ancient roof
This roof is called "gasshou dsukuri" meaning -the prayers hand architecture-.
This roof style is so strong that its compatible for the extremely heavy snow fall in this area in winter.
From here onwards are some of the houses still left to date.
This houses are still strong and man made. Even in the scorching sun the temperature inside the house is cool and it is said that it is the same in the winter. It was marvelous to see this little village, where in winter visiting this village is difficult due to several routes are closed due to heavy snow fall in winter.

These houses are really marvelous isn't.....there ability to keep the temp constant is really fascinating......speaks loads about the technological advances of the ancient Asia....u know in SL also the ancient palaces are said to have the same ability.....!!!
ReplyDeleteThank u..
ReplyDeleteyea.. :) Old Sri Lankan architecture is also equally marvelous.
This villages get very heavy snow falls in winter and those snow falls block all the roads running to these villages. That makes these villages blocked out and solitude from the rest of Japan in the winter season. Living through these circumstances for nearly three to five months with no connection with the outer world, leaves them with the only option of looking after their own safety.
I think that made them built such advanced, architecturally rich houses. Asians never fail to surprise us..!!! :)

ReplyDeleteWell u know what... as far as ancient technology is concerned, I think SL had the upperhand......i mean Ravana knew how to fly isn't it....yah you may think that its just a folk tale .... but i don't by that.....and i know many who don't.......!!! he he its just dat i'm following some leads on that these days and i tend to blab about it to any1 i meet.....!!! Do you know that Ravana was a devoted buddhist who worshiped Kashayapa Buddha.......???
of course, Sri Lankan architecture was older and more technological. It is just that the world does not know about it.
ReplyDeleteRavana story, well I also think that it is a very beleivable folk tale, and if you have any facts to prove that it is otherwise you are welcome to "blab"..
I am always ready to listen or always ready to read may be.. :)
and the answer fro your final question is NO. I did not know that..!!! This Rama Seeta Rawana Hanuma story is very closely related with Buddhism, it is even famous in Thailand too, but I never could figure out why was that..!!!
