Tateyama Kurobe Alpen Route - Toyama

19/07/2010

This was one of the greatest trips I ever had in Japan. a beautiful trip through nature, watching nature, living nature and dying nature.
Once you arrive at Tateyama station a cable car awaits you to take you to an upper point. the cable car is somewhat 30 degrees ascend and in earlier days, it  is said that people used to climb that way up on steps. Most of it is a climb through tunnels so not much of the nature can be seen at first.

From the next point you connect to a bus tour of 50 minutes through a wild forest. It has its own unique glories and this 50 minutes mark the trip. One cable car pulls people enough for three shuttle buses. All people are expected to be seated through out the way, and i would recommend you to sit on the left hand side of the bus. Sit and see, you will know why.

Next several paragraphs will take you through what I saw and savoured in the next 50 minutes since the bus started to move. The station is called Bijodaira and no people are living there as it is a protected area of wild life and nature.
This large pine tree is one of the oldest tallest and fattest trees left in the area.
This is the Japan s highest all year round waterfall named shomyou taki at 349m.
Toyama Prefecture from the Tateyama Mountain Range
Snow and greenery - a beautiful contrast
Falls made of sulphur solved water and snow melted water
Tateyama Mountain Range from the bus
At the end of the 50 minutes you reach the Murado staion where you can go on trekking, walking and hiking amidst beautiful cool greenery and snow in the summer. People who would like to continue to the Kurobe dam then takes the trolley bus to reach the Daikanbo staion. This trolley bus is really a railway bus and whole route is running through a tunnel through mountains. This bus runs through the fault which once killed nearly hundred people with a sudden spring water leakage.

From Kurobedaira station, you have to take the cable cars twice to reach the Kurobe dam. The view from th e cable cars are so magnificent specially when the dam comes to view.

Below is the Kurobe dam station and the Kurobe dam in its lush greenery.

Tateyama Alpine Route - Murado Station

19/07/2010 Another dream coming true. I always wanted to go there.I was collecting leaflets, pamphlets about this but never thought of   going due to the high costs. Well, luck was upon me this one time. It was early morning of 5.45 and I was waiting for my sensei s vehicle in front of  Toyama Station. I did know the plans for the day but that we were going to Tateyama. Were we going to Kurobe Dam too, or going to Kurobe Dam?Were we going to take the Alpen Route or go straight to Kurobe? Surprises were waiting. We reached Tateyama Station and I knew it is my dream coming true. Weather and information of the day  It was around 14degrees at the top of the mountain while it was nearly 36degrees at the foot. We were simply above the clouds and the temperature difference was too much to bear. It was cold in the summer. Early in the morning when we passed the Murodo staion on our way to Kurobe dam it was clear all around. in the aftern...

An ancient house The firehouse The goods used to cook The ladder used to go upstairs The upstairs The goods used for cultivating and making rice balls Ancient goods used to make flour Ancient Toliet Tools used to cultivate In these gasshou made houses . the roof plays the main part. Its  so strong that it holds the thick layer of snow which falls every winter.  Even in the hottest summer , inside of the house is cool and very soothing, Houses are very ventilative and spacey. Borobudur - Yogyakarta

2014/05/06 Borobudur is the worlds largest Buddhist temple, hence UNESCO World Heritage Site. We had plans to watch the sunrise at Borbudur over Mount Merapi. So it was an early trip to the temple around 4.30 in the dark by torch light, wait for the sunrise enjoy the view from the top of the temple, have breakfast at Manohara hotel and leave. It was pitch dark in the night, not much moon. The torchlight showed us the way and a silhouette of a temple came in to view when our eyes gradually got used to the dark. With the first rays of sunlight, we saw Mount Merapi. The beautiful but vicious volcano fuming. Loved it! All around the place is covered in mist, so the actual surroundigs are yet to be confirmed. By now the temple, which we  have already climbed and waiting at the  top, is coming in to view. The stupas, carvings and statues gradually emerge. The temple is a symmetrical stupa, consisting of nine stacked platforms: six squar...
