Tateyama Kurobe Alpen Route - Toyama

19/07/2010 This was one of the greatest trips I ever had in Japan. a beautiful trip through nature, watching nature, living nature and dying nature. Once you arrive at Tateyama station a cable car awaits you to take you to an upper point. the cable car is somewhat 30 degrees ascend and in earlier days, it  is said that people used to climb that way up on steps. Most of it is a climb through tunnels so not much of the nature can be seen at first. From the next point you connect to a bus tour of 50 minutes through a wild forest. It has its own unique glories and this 50 minutes mark the trip. One cable car pulls people enough for three shuttle buses. All people are expected to be seated through out the way, and i would recommend you to sit on the left hand side of the bus. Sit and see, you will know why. Next several paragraphs will take you through what I saw and savoured in the next 50 minutes since the bus started to move. The station is called Bijodaira and no people ar

Kurobe Dam - Toyama

19/07/2010 This dam is the largest dam in Japan with a height of 186m. This is also one of the largest Arch type dams in the world. This dam is situated in the upper area of Kurobe river and it has all its bitter tales about it being built in such a tough place where no human could have easily reached. Nearly 171 had given up their lives in this project. So Kurobe dam is a perfect Japanese work with all its cost and contribution. View of the Kurobe lake from the cable car. Once you reach the Kurobeko Stration by the cable car and you take the trolley bus to the Kurobe Dam station through the famous and infamous kanden tunnel. It is while this tunnel was being digged they came across the big fault which spurted out with tons of deadly cold water killing lots of workers at the time. in the tunnel the place is marked in blue with a name tag. Owakudani Hot Water Springs of Hakone

02/01/2008 Owakudani is  a volcanic vent where sulphur and other volcanic substances still come out of springs. The water is higher than 100degrees in most springs and very poisonous. Sulphuric vents with volcanic activity Hot water springs Slight volcanic activity The famous black eggs  boiled in the hot water springs It is said that eating these eggs you can extend your life span. Well,I ate one. Even though the shell turns black due to the hydrogen sulphide released from the spring, the inside is of  the  same taste of a normal boiled egg. As rumors say, it is not good to eat three black eggs. Do not know the mystic reason, but I think too much sulphur in the system might shorten your life span. The Boat Trip in Noto Sea - Ishikawa

31/07/2010 This trip was so sudden. Friends called me out to join  with them to  go to Ishikawa. I had already been to Kanazawa  but my love for traveling won. By 8.40 in the morning, I was waiting for my friends at the Toyama station. These two bridges connect the Noto isalnd with Honshu, the main island of Japan.Leaving the second bridge brings you to Noto of Ishikawa prefecture. It is a place where no trains run, only buses. I always wanted to visit here but the transportation was  a problem. Well, after all it was  a dream coming true. We headed to "gan mon" of Ishikawa. A boat ride around the place shows you , the different natural patterns and designs on the rocks in the beach. Being different from the sea we saw at the other side of the Noto Island the Sea near ganmon is really windy and rough. Well, it resembles the beaches of Sri Lanka.
