Ryuga Cave - Kochi

25/07/2011

Ryuga cave is  a an old cave where first human beings have said to have lived. This cave is nearly 4 kilometers long and the normal course is just one hour course which runs only one kilo meter. The cave interior is very cool nearly 16 degrees in opposite to the scorching sun of 30 degrees outside.

  The entrance the cave

You come across three main waterfalls along the normal course. All have very very cold water and very pure. This water  is running through the faults in the rocky cave and is rich of minerals. Below is one of those waterfalls.

Thousands of thousands years have passed by after the caves were formed and they are still formed. Droolin water and wind has created beautiful patterns and statue like stalactites. There were stalactites looking like  Sain Mary- the mother of Jesus, famous Sakamoto Ryuma of Japan, fish , jelly fish etc.

As it was made clear earlier, the bones , old utensils and leftover food which goes back to more than 10000years have been discovered from this cave. Japanese are said to be one of the oldest sapiens or humans in the history. There is a utensil which had been originally made of clay which now with time has turned in to a rock. This is believed to be used by the ancient human beings who used to live in a part of this cave.

There were nearly 200 photos of beautiful stalactites different patterns on the rocks and water faults, waterfalls etc. Putting up all of them was a bit hard so just ended up in only five photos. The entrance fee  was 1000 yen and the one and half hour tour was worth double the money. This was just so beautiful and was a standing evidence of the beauty and marvel of the nature. Try this out..

Special thanks to Yasui san at the Kochi center for accompanying me in this priceless expedition.

Surprises were waiting. We reached Tateyama Station and I knew it is my dream coming true. Weather and information of the day  It was around 14degrees at the top of the mountain while it was nearly 36degrees at the foot. We were simply above the clouds and the temperature difference was too much to bear. It was cold in the summer. Early in the morning when we passed the Murodo staion on our way to Kurobe dam it was clear all around. in the aftern...

Borobudur - Yogyakarta

2014/05/06 Borobudur is the worlds largest Buddhist temple, hence UNESCO World Heritage Site. We had plans to watch the sunrise at Borbudur over Mount Merapi. So it was an early trip to the temple around 4.30 in the dark by torch light, wait for the sunrise enjoy the view from the top of the temple, have breakfast at Manohara hotel and leave. It was pitch dark in the night, not much moon. The torchlight showed us the way and a silhouette of a temple came in to view when our eyes gradually got used to the dark. With the first rays of sunlight, we saw Mount Merapi. The beautiful but vicious volcano fuming. Loved it! All around the place is covered in mist, so the actual surroundigs are yet to be confirmed. By now the temple, which we  have already climbed and waiting at the  top, is coming in to view. The stupas, carvings and statues gradually emerge. The temple is a symmetrical stupa, consisting of nine stacked platforms: six squar...
